HEALTH

TEDCs health program, The G.A.M.E. (Get Active and More Energy), purpose is to educate and empower youths to become advocates and catalysts for environmental and community change.  The G.A.M.E. project is a timely response to obesity initiatives being explored in Mississippi which examine methods of assisting high-risk populations in achieving healthful identity through nutritional discipline, exercise, and gardening. The project incorporates nutrition, fitness, and educational resources with the goal of lowering body mass indexes and creating healthy habits.  This project currently serves 75 youth.
EDUCATION

TEDC recently received funding from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to implement a literacy program that will focus on adult education, family literacy, early childhood education, and parenting skills training. We hope to improve reading among youths and their families in our community. The Right Strides Reading program will afford us the opportunity to pilot a reading program to gauge community interest and dedication to improving reading skills.
